Inez Wood

WOOD, INEZ MEREDITH (CLOWATER) - "I've got itchy feet, where do you want to go?" Inez set off on her next journey on Saturday 22, 2012 when she passed away at the Central New Brunswick Nursing Home in Boiestown, NB. Inez, the wife of the late Basil Wood, lived in Fredericton for most of her life. Born on Feburary 26, 1913 in Doaktown, NB, she was the daughter of the late Abel and Carrie (Mitchell) Clowater. Inez dearly loved children. She spent 30 plus years teaching in the classrooms of Jacquet River, Lower Durham, Geary, Oromocto and Devon Park Christian School before retiring to play full time. Whether it was just a trip to the store, somewhere in New Brunswick or half way around the world Inez had to scratch her itchy feet. Inez attended the Devon Park Baptist Church, was a member of the Women’s Missionary Society and the Ladies Guild. She was very active in the IODE and the Kindness Club. Inez enjoyed quilting, knitting, sewing and late night Scrabble games with friends and family. Inez is survived by six grandchildren: Hal Wood (Sheila) of Fredericton, NB, Gail Palmer (Barry) of New Maryland, NB Michael Wood of McNamee, NB, Stephen Wood (Barbara) of McNamee, NB, Bradley Wood (Tanya) of Ludlow, NB, Kelvin Wood (Esther) of Fredericton, NB; ten great grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, Landon and Hannah; daughter-in-law, Lillian Wood of McNamee, NB, sister-in-law Barbara Clowater of Fredericton and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Inez was predeceased by her son, Vance Wood of McNamee, NB; three brothers, Weldon Clowater, Vinta Clowater and Oran Clowater; and three sisters, Reta Seeley, Clara Stickles and Emilie Hubert.
Visitation will take place at York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive on Tuesday September 25, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 at 2pm from Devon Park Baptist Church with Rev. Terry Woodcock officiating. Interment will take place at the Sunny Bank Cemetery in Fredericton, NB. As per Inez's wishes, remembrances made to the Devon Park Baptist Church would be appreciated.
