“Clara O’Handley”
We, the sons and daughters of the late Clara O’Handley would like to extend our sincere thanks and appreciation to our co-workers, relatives, friends and neighbors for your kindness shown on the recent loss of our precious mother.
To those who sent flowers, sympathy cards, Mass cards and donations to a charity in her memory, we thank you for remembering the beautiful life that our mom lived for 96 years.
Also, for those who sent food to our homes, we will be forever grateful for the times that we shared at the kitchen table reminiscing about our childhood and the wonderful accomplishments of our loved one.
We will be forever grateful for the honor guards at mom’s funeral – CBRM Mayor and Council, the members of Branch #78 Royal Canadian Legion, Immaculate Conception and St. Eugene’s CWL members. Mom would be so proud!
Thanks as well to the doctors and nursing staff at the New Waterford Consolidated Hospital and the 3rd floor West nursing staff at the Glace Bay General Hospital. Your devotion and compassion will never be forgotten. Mom would also like for us to remember her physicians over the years. The late Dr. James B. Tompkins, Dr. Brennan, most recently Dr. Kent Cadegan and Dr. Kevin MacNeil for the medical care over so many years. Also, to Dr. B.J. O’Brien who filled in for Dr. Cadegan when mom was in the hospital and to whom she kindly referred to as the handsome doctor with the Irish accent – God bless you all!
To Father Leo Boone who gave mom the last rights and the wonderful words of compassion when he spoke of mom’s life at the funeral service, thank you Father. And to the Altar Servers Adam Crosby and Butch Young thank you for your dedication to God and His Church. We are also very grateful to Janine Fiolek and Mary Madore for the wonderful readings so eloquently delivered on Mom’s behalf. We also acknowledge Veronica and Belle, mom’s friends from the Seniors Complex for taking up the offertory.
We greatly acknowledge as well the members of the Immaculate Conception Church choir for the beautiful musical selections and the members of the CWL for hosting the wonderful lunch after the service.
We would be remiss if we didn’t mention the residents at the Seniors Complex and mom’s homemakers who took very good care of her over the years. You treated her as your own and she loved you all dearly.
Finally, but certainly not least, we extend our sincere thanks to the owners and staff at V.J. McGillivrary’s Funeral Home, notably, Cordell, Rita and Sherry, whom we entrusted with mom’s wake and funeral arrangements. As always, you stood by your motto in delivering guidance, compassion and professional service and you certainly did honour mom’s life story. God bless you all – we will be eternally grateful!
Rest in Peace mom with dad, daughter Selena, sons Jack, Tom & Allie - Until we all meet again!
