Passed away suddenly at St. Clare's Mercy Hospital on September 23rd, 2012, Joseph (Joe) Whiffen, in his 55th year, of Fox Harbour, Placentia Bay. Predeceased by his father (Maurice) and sisters (Martha and Annie). Leaving to mourn his loss, his loving and devoted wife Kathleen (Kay); his mother Ellen; son Nathan (Trina Snelgrove); daughter Leigha O'Keefe (Brett), and pride and joy of his life, his granddaughter Janna, and step-grandchildren: Zachary and Jessica. Also, mourning his loss are his sisters: Betty Griffin (Ed), Deanie Pittman (Mike), and brothers: John (Maureen), Ben (Theresa), Andy (Joan) and Wish (Kathleen). As well, his sisters-in-law: Violet Griffiths (Anthony), Geraldine Meade (Dan), Carm Hickey (Steve), Stella Mullett (Reg) and brother-in-law Bernard Sparrow (Pat), plus numerous nieces, nephews, friends and co-workers at Placentia Health Centre. Resting at Maher's Funeral Home Placentia with visitation on Tuesday, September 25th from 11:00 am - 9:00 pm. Funeral mass to take place at Sacred Heart Church, Fox Harbour on Wednesday, September 26th at 11:00 am. Interment to follow.
