CHURCHILL, Charlene Jean – 61, of Overton, Yarmouth Co., passed away suddenly September 12, 2012 in Yarmouth Regional Hospital. Born October 8, 1950 in Yarmouth, she was a daughter of the late William and Mildred (Murree) Atkinson. Charlene worked in the restaurant business for 30 years working at The Snack Place, The Prince Arthur, and for the past 6 years at Joanne's Quick and Tasty. She was a very efficient waitress for many years who always had satisified customers and made many close friends over the years through her profession. Charlene lived her life for her family spending many hours tending her grandchildren, cooking, baking, and gardening. Charlene had a love for animals, especially cats, always opening her home for strays. Charlene always put her family and friends first and herself last, never complaining, but always smiling and making sure everyone else was taken care of. She was such a blessing in so many lives and will be deeply missed and never forgotten. She is survived by husband, Rick; daughters, Darlene Dulong (Randy) Robertson, Yellowknife, NT; Diana Dulong (Darryl Glover), Abbottsford, BC; son, Tim (Tracy) Dulong, Yarmouth; stepsons, Blair (Colette), Adam (Aurilie) and Stephen (Tracey) Churchill, all of Overton; brother, Bill Atkinson, South Ohio; special niece, Heather (Bobby) Crowell, South Ohio; grandchildren, Josh, Riley, Brayden, Rawdon, Chloe, Sierra, Jaxon, Jesse, Zoey, Camden and Zander. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by sisters, Sandra Atkinson and Shirley Pyne. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Sweeny’s Funeral Home & Crematorium, Yarmouth. Visitation took place Saturday, September 15 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., with prayers at 8 p.m. Memorial service was held Sunday, September 16 at 2 p.m. in Sweeny’s Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. A.D. “Bill” Newell officiated. Interment followed in Chegoggin Cemetery. Family flowers only, please. Donations in Charlene’s memory may be made to Canadian Cancer Society or Yarmouth SPCA.
