Howard Forbes

FORBES, Howard MacKay – 84 of Lyons Brook, passed away September 29, 2012 at home.
Born in Denmark, N.S., he was a son of the late Howard & Anna (MacKay) Forbes. He worked for the CNR for 37 years as a telegrapher, retiring in 1986. After retiring, he kept busy selling vehicles and doing odd jobs. Howard enjoyed spending winters in Florida, summers at the cottage, and hunting seasons at the camp. He was a long time member of the Pictou Lions Club and the Dots and Dashes. He enjoyed music, church and camping at the "Swamper Villa”. Howard loved collecting vehicles and CNR memorabilia.
He is survived by children, Bruce (Joann), Annapolis Valley; Robert (Darlene), Lyons Brook; Paul (Trina), Bayhead; Barbara (Bruce), Smokey Lake, Alberta; Tony (Monique), George’s River; daughter-in-law, Faye Wheatley, Lower Sackville; fifteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife Margaret (MacKay); son, Gordon; sisters, Emma and Hilda; and brother, Sandy.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2-4 &7-9 PM in the McLaren Funeral Home, Pictou. Funeral will take place 11 AM Wednesday in St. James Anglican Church, with Rev. Trevor Lightfoot officiating, assisted by Rev. Faye Wheatley. Burial will be in Heatherdale Memorial Gardens. Family flowers only.
Donations in his memory may be made to Kidney Foundation. Thank you to the good friend that kept him company the last few years, Isabel and his pet Zoe. Special thanks to Pictou Dialysis Unit for the 3 years of care, and the other medical staff that cared for him over the years
