Linda Colwell

COLWELL, LINDA - 1917 - 2012 - Linda Colwell, 94, of Monarch Hall, Riverview, formerly of Riverside-Albert, passed away peacefully on October 1st, 2012, at her residence. Linda was born in Riverside on November 8th, 1917, the daughter of the late Harry and Minnie (Govang) Russell. A registered nurse, Linda graduated from the Moncton Hospital School of Nursing in 1939. She later continued her education at McGill University as a nursing instructor. Linda worked for 20 years at the Moncton Hospital before returning to Riverside-Albert to raise her family. Linda immersed herself in her community. She served on the Albert Hospital Board of Directors and the Hospital Aide Society. A member of the Women’s Missionary Society, she was also an active member of the Riverside-Albert Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. Linda was known for her caring and giving spirit. She was always willing to give advice or a helping hand to anyone in need. She was a great lady and a true inspiration to all who knew her. An avid reader, Linda looked forward to her daily paper, reading local news and following Albert County stories. She had a special place in her heart for animals and especially loved her cats. Linda will be sadly missed by her son, Russell Colwell of Halifax, NS, sister Jean Steeves, Riverview, and her nieces and nephews, for whom she cared deeply. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her beloved husband Clarence Colwell; sister Dorothy McKinley and brother Gordon Russell. The family wishes to thank Linda’s extended family and the staff of Monarch Hall, Sunset Village and Moncton Hospital for their dedication to Linda over the past several years.
Linda is resting at the Albert County Funeral Home where her funeral service will be held on Thursday, October 4, at 1pm. Family and friends are invited to a reception immediately following the service. Interment will be in the Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell Hill, NB.  
Donations in Linda’s name can be made to the Riverside-Albert Baptist Church or to the Bennett and Albert County Health Care Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
