John DeLong

DeLONG, JOHN - John Hamilton DeLong passed away September 28, 2012 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax. John was born in Shannon, N.B. in 1928. He was the son of the late George and Estella (Fowler) DeLong of Penobsquis, N.B. John was a carpenter and worked in Alberta, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia until he was injured in a construction accident in 1975. He enjoyed his log home in Port Granville, NS; woodworking and travel with his companion Helen. He is survived by his first wife Patricia (Murphy) of Forestburg, Alberta, his son Randy (Kimberly) DeLong of Didsbury, Alberta, beloved granddaughters Kelly and Drew, his sister Mary Powers of Moncton, brother David (Marilyn) of Medicine Hat, Alberta and many nieces and nephews. John was predeceased by his parents, his son Stewart and brothers Bill, Don, Gordon and Myles.
Cremation has already taken place under the direction of J.A. Snow Funeral Home, Halifax. A service will be held at the Shannon Church on Thursday, October 11th at 2:00pm with interment to follow at Shannon Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Paraplegic Association of Nova Scotia, 7001 Mumford Rd., Suite 317A Tower 1, Halifax N.S. B3L 4N9.
