
Willena Eleanor McCallum
McCallum, Willena Eleanor – 64 of Ottawa, Ontario and formerly of Truro passed away October 4, 2012 surrounded by her loving family in Colchester Regional Hospital, Truro. Born in Truro, she was a daughter of the late William and Rita (Fitzgerald) McCallum. Willena was the recipient of a double lung transplant and as a result was asked to share her story with the Lung Association and Health Canada in an effort to help others in the prevention of lung disease. This cause was near and dear to her heart and she leaves behind many friends at the Ottawa Chapter of the Lung Association who were instrumental in helping her get through her transplant. Willena also had a great love for her children and especially her grandchildren. She is survived by children, Tammy Thompson and also grandchildren, Derek, Jurnay and Ocean, Ont.; Shawn Thompson, grandchildren Makaila and Tylor; Robert McCallum and granddaughter, Ashley, Ont.; Danny Lachapelle, BC; sisters, Judy, Ont., Bonnie (Mike) MacSwain, Donna (Jim) Whidden, Sherry, all of Truro; brothers, Gardiner, Bernard (JoAnne), both of Truro, and Stephen, Ont., Tom (Sue), Kingston, Ont., Robbie, Selma, BC; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by sisters, Doreen, Debbie and Margie. A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 8th at 11 a.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro with Rev. Larry Harrison officiating. Donations in her memory may be made to your local chapter of the Lung Association.
