We the family regret to announce the sudden passing of our loving wife, mother, daughter and sister. Dawne passed away on Oct. 2, 2012 at the young age of 39.
Born in Glace Bay, she was the daughter of Doreen (Howie) and Donald Smith.
Dawne will be remembered for her love of life’s most simple pleasures and for the time spent with her loving family; she dedicated her life to the care of her family, a labour of love in which she took great pride and happiness.
She will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Scott Kennedy; daughters, Sarah, Kristina and Lauren, all at home. She will also be missed by her parents, Doreen and Donald; brother, Darren (Jennifer); sister, Danielle (Chris); mother-in-law, Fran Price; sisters in-law, Ada, Cheryl and Kathleen; brother in-law, Chris; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and friends.
Dawne was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Tom and Agnes Howie, paternal grandparents, Sam and Lena Smith and her sister-in-law Karen.
In honoring Dawne's wishes, cremation has taken place.
Visitation will be held 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. There will be a private family interment at a later date.
Donations in Dawne's memory may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
