Corner Brook, Newfoundland, October 2, 1924 - October 15, 2012. Among peaceful whispers, Effie quietly slipped away from us to be re-united with her loving husband Ronald; son Douglas; her parents, Henry and Carrie Oram; her parents-in-law, Jabez and Kate Jenkins; her brother, Garland Oram, sister-in-law Thelma and her husband, Ephraim Knee; and Ron’s step-sisters and a step-brother. Leaving behind with saddened hearts her daughters: Linda (Deryck) Harnett and Bernice (Bill) Jamer; her son, Dr. Ken (Marcie) Jenkins; daughter-in-law, Diana (Fred) Jenkins-Frampton; Effie’s grandchildren: Christopher (Allison) and Gregory (Christina); Jennifer and Victoria; Bill (Colleen) and Jessica; Nigel, Michael and Emily; five dear great-grandchildren: Riley, Ciara, Carmen, Kayla and Avery Rose; her sister-in-law Blanche Oram and her children, as well as a number of nieces and nephews and large circle of friends. Visitation took place at Fillatre’s Funeral Home, St. Mark’s Avenue on Tuesday, Oct. 16, 2012 from 2 - 4 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Funeral service at Oakland United Church on Wednesday, October 17, at 10:30 a.m. Flowers gratefully accepted or donations may be made to Oakland United Church or a charity of one’s choice.
