SYMES, NELLIE FLORENCE (THOMPSON) - Mrs. Nellie Florence (Thompson) Symes 92, wife of the late Borden Symes passed away on October 25th, 2012 at The Moncton Hospital with her family at her side. She was a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and sister. Nellie was born in Long Point, NB on May 18th 1920. She was the daughter of the late David Thompson and the late Greta Roberts Thompson. She was a homemaker and worked hard all her life to take care of her family. She was known for her homemade bread and her quilting. She enjoyed live music and attended dances in her younger years. She also loved a good card game and spending time with her family. She was a member of Saint Paul’s Anglican Church Brown’s Yard and an active member of the ACW. She will be missed by her eleven children. Son’s; Albert (Gloria) Fords Mills, Sam (Elsie) Moncton, Lennie (Hilda) South Branch, Vance (Linda) Fords Mills, Steven [Martha] Moncton, Jeffrey (Elizabeth) Fords Mills. Daughters: Edna Martin, [Francis] Fords Mills. Jeanice Betts, (late Myles) Moncton. Pearl Hewitt, (Don) Kennebunk Maine, Jean Manship (David) Riverview. Ruby Ranson Saint John. She leaves behind her sister Agnes Langill, Amherst, one brother Larry Thompson of Bass River, and one sister-in-law Helen Brooks, Saint John. She was predeceased by her husband Borden Symes, sisters Ruth Donaher, Mary McDermott, Gladys Campbell & infant twin sisters Nora and Norma and her brothers Harvey, Arlen, Herman, Kenneth Thompson and infant brother Edward, two sons-in-law; Bob LeClair and Clarence Cail. She also leaves behind 29 grandchildren, 39 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Resting at Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto with visitation on Saturday from 7:00 to 9:00 pm, Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm, and Monday from 10:00 until 10:30 am at Saint Paul’s Anglican Church in Browns Yard. A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, October 29th, 2012 at 11:00 am at Saint Paul’s Anglican Church, Browns Yard with Rev. Cathy Laskey and Venerable Richard McConnell officiating assisted by Rev. Paul Ranson and Rev. Cecil Symes. Interment will be in the adjoining cemetery. If so desired donations to The Friends of the Moncton Hospital or donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family. Arrangements are in care of Thompson’s Funeral Home, Richibucto (523-4252).
