ROGERS, GEORGE H. - 1921 - 2012 - It is with great sadness, that the family of George Herbert Rogers, 91, formerly of Indian Mountain, announces his passing at the Jordan Lifecare Centre, The Glades, on Saturday October 27, 2012. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late John and Lilia (Fairweather) Rogers. George was very proud of serving overseas in World War II as a motor mechanic and later a fitter with the 12th Canadian Light Field Ambulance. He was a member of the Salisbury Royal Canadian Legion Branch #31 for 69 years. George was a hard worker, an avid vegetable gardener, enjoyed fishing, cutting wood, working around his property with his tractors and socializing with friends and family. George will be sadly missed by his wife of 63 years, Joan (vanEden) Rogers; sons, Herb (Linda) of Indian Mountain, Dana (Crystal) of Stewart, BC; daughters, Ruth (Garry) of Fredericton and Karen Rogers of Indian Mountain; five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, George was predeceased his sister, Nellie Lewis.
Visitation will be held at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Thursday from 2:00 to 4:00pm and 7:00 to 9:00pm. Salisbury Legion Branch #31 Memorial Service to be held on Friday November 2, 2012 at 11:00 am followed immediately by a Celebration of Life Service for George at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harold MacDonald officiating. Reception following the service in the Funeral Home Reception Centre. Interment, Birch Hill Cemetery, Berry Mills. In George’s memory, donations to the Jordan Lifecare Centre, Birch Hill Cemetery Fund or memorial of donor’s choice would be appreciated by the family.
