WASHINGTON: Marian McQuaker Washington of Swift Current, SK passed away on Monday, October 22, 2012 at the Herbert & District Integrated Health Facility at the age of 96 years. Marian is survived by her children: John (Darlene) Washington, Swift Current, SK; Judy (Richard) Whittet, Regina Beach, SK; June (Brian) Krzyzaniak, Saskatoon, SK; as well as seven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren; a brother-in-law Frank (Rose) Washington of Swift Current, SK and sister-in-law Audrey Washington, Swift Current, SK. Marian was predeceased by the love of her life for 62 years, Bert Washington on July 18, 2003. Her parents Peter & Eva Smith; brother Donnie in W.W. 2 and a sister Eva Hammond November 2, 1996. During her life Marian was a member of the First United Church, taught Sunday School and sang in the choir. She was active in Little Theatre, President of Elmwood Golf Club, President and Secretary of Beta Sigma Phi. She served as Madam Commissioner for the Girl Guides of Saskatchewan for eleven years. It was always a good time when family & friends gathered around the piano and Mom played. In her early years Marian would play the piano at senior homes. Bert and Marian spent 23 winters in Mesa, AZ. There, her artistic talents came to life. She did numerous oil paintings and had a real passion for working with ceramics. Her talents also included petit point and counter cross stitch. After Bert's passing Marian moved to the Bentley for four years and then to Herbert, SK. Marian will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. A family graveside memorial was held on Saturday, October 27, 2012 at Memory Gardens Cemetery. Warren's Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
