It is with great sadness, that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of our father, Joseph ‘Chops’ Larade on Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at home.
Born Nov. 12, 1938, in Cheticamp, Joe was the son of the late Thomas and Zabine (LeForte) Larade.
Dad was employed with the Town of New Waterford until his retirement in 2004. He was well known for operating different machinery; however his snow plow is what he enjoyed most.
In his younger years, Dad would love getting together with many friends to enjoy his hobbies such as pool, darts and bowling. He was also known for his ability to create wonderful meals that many have enjoyed and will miss, especially on Sundays.
Joseph is survived by his children, Patricia ‘Tish’, with whom he resided, Joann (Gary), Sydney, Laurie (Wayne), Victoria Mines, Hughie, New Waterford, Kim (Bob), Sydney, and Tommy (Carol-Anne), Lawrencetown. He is also survived by his grandchildren who will truly miss their, ‘Papa’, Stephen, Andrew, Shari, Tyler, Kellyanne, Colin, Jeffrey, Terri, Sarah, Tessa and Christopher. Joseph leaves behind two brothers, Patrick, Eddie (Carol) and three sisters, Netsy, Lorraine and Theresa, all of New Waterford.
Joseph was predeceased by his wife, Theresa (McGillivray) Larade, a sister, Leona, two brothers in infancy, three brothers-in-law, Syl MacNeil, Albert Woods and Paul Helle.
A private family visitation will be held at the V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. The funeral mass, officiated by Rev. Ray Huntley is Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. in St. Leonard Church followed by interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery. All are invited to St. Leonard’s Hall on Convent Street for a reception.
As an expression of sympathy for Joseph, memorial donations in his memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Nova Scotia Lung Association or a charity of one’s choice.
