DONALD GEORGE LAWRENCE
Born In: Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada
Born: September 21st, 1936
Passed in: Kamloops, British Columbia, Canada
Passed on: October 23rd, 2012
He was born in Winnipeg seventy-six years ago and lived in many places across Canada as a boy, but he considered the James Bay district of Victoria as home. He joined the military at a young age and again lived in many different places in Canada as well as four years in Metz, France. After almost thirty years in the RCAF he came to Kamloops as a movie projectionist, working the drive-in, North Kamloops and Victoria Street theatres. He was also employed in various positions with the Kamloops School District.
A chance meeting led to a thirty-one year partnership with Catherine Fraser. He adored her and always entertained (and sometimes embarrassed) her with his silly little songs and stories. Before mobility became an issue, he and Catherine enjoyed many concerts, symphonies and art galleries. While his body failed him, he never stopped looking forward to tomorrow, always planning journeys to new places and return trips to favourite spots.
Besides his loving partner, he is mourned by Catherine's family; her parents Alex and Beatrice Fraser, her two children: daughter Tracy Mulhern, son Michael Mulhern and his partner Linda Lee.
As Donald wished, Alternative Funeral and Cremation Services handled his final arrangements. He requested that there be no Memorial Service. In the spring his ashes will be taken home to Victoria .
Thank you to Dr. Rob Baker and Marilyn for your years of care and concern. You were both very special to him.
Memorial donations may be made to Kamloops SPCA or to BC Children's Hospital.
