June 16, 1947 - October 27, 2012. Born in New Waterford, Cape Breton, N.S but a Newfoundlander at heart. It is with great sadness that the families of Tom, husband, father, grandfather and brother announce his passing at the L.A. Miller Centre after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Tom was a member of the R.C.M.P for 30 years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and exceptional family man. Predeceased by his father Walter Charles Berger and mother Mary Hill Stewart; father in law Michael Joseph Parrell and brother in law Howard Thomas Parrell. Leaving to mourn his loving wife of 36 years Carm (nee Parrell); daughter Lisa (Frederick Russell); granddaughter Avery and grandson William; son Michael (Crystal Debaar) Virden, MB; grandsons: Eric, Ethan and Evan and mother in law Winnifred Parrell. Also. left to mourn his brothers: John (Barbara) Brockville, ON, Robert (Lynn) Dartmouth, N.S, William (Jeanie) Glace Bay, N.S and Michael (Linda) Sydney, N.S. brothers-in-law: Richard Squires (Lee), Richard Parrell (Bernice), Robert O’Brien (Marie), Danny Parrell (Josephine) and Graham Steele (Beverly). Along with many close and dear nieces, nephews, family and friends. Special thanks to all the doctors, nurses and staff who took such great care of Tom over the past two years. He will be extremely missed but never forgotten. Cremation has taken place. Resting at Caul’s Funeral Home, LeMarchant Road. Visitation on Friday from 2 p.m. - 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. - 9 p.m. Funeral Service will take place on Saturday, November 3rd, 2012 at 9:30 a.m. from St. Teresa’s Parish. Flowers are gratefully accepted or donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
