Mary W. House (Pynn)
Born: May 12th, 1924
Passed on: July 9th, 2012
We, the family of the late Mary W. House, would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the many people who were so caring and supportive throughout our mother’s final days and who continue to be so following her passing on July 9, 2012.
Special thanks go to Dr. Julia O’Connor and Dr. Jan van Wijk. Mom always said “Trust in your doctor means everything.” and she had complete confidence in both of them.
Dr. Rashleigh and the wonderful nurses in Palliative Care who treated her with such gentle care and respect deserve mention also. They ensured that her final days and her passing were as peaceful as we could have wished for her.
Thank-you to Rev. Myles Vardy as well for his words of comfort throughout and the beautiful service celebrating our mother’s life, to Gary Graham for his wonderful music, and to the UCW members of First United for their presence in the choir loft. The lovely reception that followed the service was due to the efforts of those kind ladies with some help from our friends. We appreciate, too, the family and friends who served as Mom’s Pallbearers. Two groups of people deserve special recognition for providing such a wonderful Honour Guard: the nurses who were both friends and colleagues from Mom’s professional life, and the members of the Senior Citizens Echo Club with whom she shared many a happy evening during the past several years. Thank-you.
To our family and all others who attended our mother’s funeral on that beautiful July day, you will always be in our hearts. Your presence in the church and at the funeral home meant everything to us and to Mom’s grandchildren, Ian and Susanna, and her sons-in-law, Ted and Austin.
Sincere appreciation as well to the staff of Fillatre’s for their compassionate professionalism. We were fortunate that it was Baden Cunning who escorted Mom to her final resting place as he had done for our father, Harry W. House, seventeen years earlier.
Last of all, but certainly not least, a sincere thank-you to each and every one who demonstrated their caring whether it was with charitable donations, gifts of food, flowers, cards, visits, phone calls, or online tributes. Our mother would be the first to say you shouldn’t have but we, her daughters, are so very glad you did!
