It is with deepest regret and heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of M. Patricia (Patsy) Elizabeth Elward age 65 at her home in Amherst on Oct. 29, 2012.
Born in Neil’s Harbour, Cape Breton, she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Anne (Gayle) Cooke.
Patsy was strong in her faith as a member of the Amherst Wesleyan Church. She had a huge thirst for knowledge and a good bargain at yard sales. Her world revolved around her family and friends. Her passion for reading and her college degree in business information technology in the year 2000 put her in her dream job at Coles Book Store in Amherst for 10 years retiring in 2010.
We will all miss you more than words can express, mom.
Patsy is survived by her loving husband, Stanley; her children, Shane (Angela) and Wendy, both of Amherst; stepchildren, Christa (Glenn) Rodriguez of Halifax, Christopher (Robyn) Elward of Rothesay, N.B., Corey (Claude) Elward of Quebec, Craig (Carrie) Elward of Amherst, Christian of Halifax and was known as Grammie to her grandchildren, Nichole (Steve), Stephen, Gracie and Riley and was known as Mingy to her great-grandchildren, Emma and Alyssa; six step-grandchildren, Braden, Natalia, Gabrielle, Claire, Lily and Austin and many nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by eight brothers and sisters, Jack (Marie) of Ontario, Clifford (Sue) of Cape Breton, Kenneth (Donna) of Halifax, Frank (Carly) of Cape Breton, Faye (Steven) of Cape Breton, June (Tony) Holden of Moncton, N.B., Joan (Tim) Donovan of Timberlea, N.S. and June ‘BJ’ Gillis of Alberta.
Besides her parents, Patsy was predeceased by her two year old brother, Kevin.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 1, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst. (667-9906). Funeral service will be held on Friday at 2 p.m. from Campbell’s Chapel with Rev. Raymond Fancy officiating.
