BEATTY, CLAUDE IRVINE - 1919 - 2012 - Claude Irvine Beatty was a husband, father, grampy and veteran and he will be missed by all who loved him. Claude passed away at the Veterans’ Health Centre, Moncton, on Monday October 29, 2012 at the age of 93. The two years he lived at the Veterans’ Health Centre were enriched by new friendships and loving care of the staff. Born in Lakeville Corner, New Brunswick, he was the son of the late William and Catherine (Thompson) Beatty. He was the last surviving member of his family, predeceased by brothers Hartley and Carl and sisters, Mavis Trenholm, Marie Brogan, Vie Hargrove, Alice Delong and Nell Kervin. Claude married Doris MacBeth August 10, 1940 and they enjoyed 64 years together until her death in 2004. They had four children, Philip (Shan Mei Hu), June Horsman (Garnet), Brenda Currie (Lorne) and Claudia Rogers. He lived in Ripples until 1941 when he enlisted and served overseas in WWII as an ambulance driver. He returned home safely in 1946 and soon after moved his family to Moncton. He first worked at a local corner store and then as a mail carrier with Canada Post. He was a member of Royal Canadian Legion Branch #6 and the Heritage Club of Canada Post. Claude enjoyed hunting and salmon fishing on the Miramichi. In his later years, he spent many hours on his computer. Music supplied him with much enjoyment. He will be fondly remembered by his grandchildren, Angela Beatty, Dawn Thompson, Brent Horsman, Carla Bourque, Stacy Blois, Scott Horsman, Bobbi Lee Rogers, Chris Rogers and Sheri Currie. He was predeceased by one grandson, Duane Beatty. He was blessed with 15 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel on Friday November 2, 2012 at 2:00 pm. Family friend Pastor Russell Morehouse will officiate with a reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment, Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
