
NORMAN WENDT

Norman Edward Wendt passed away on Wednesday, October 30, 2012 at Providence Place in Moose Jaw with family by his side. Norman at the age of 97, predeceased by his beloved wife Esther, his grandson Mark, his parents Robert and Agnes and by his 6 brothers and sisters. Loving father of Doreen Smith, Diane Robertson, Ed (Leslie) Wendt and Ken Wendt. Cherished grandfather of Cory, Jodi, Lindsay, Ashley and Derek. He will be remembered by his 5 great-grandchildren and by all of his nieces, nephews and friends. Norman was born to Robert and Agnes Wendt in the community of Pine Lake. He was raised on the family farm and grew up attending the Pine Lake School. His family was well-known in many of the communities in the area as the Wendt’s Orchestra and they played for many of the community dances. It was at one of these dances that Norman met Esther and they were married on May 22, 1942. The young couple started farming on an adjoining piece of land to Norman's parents and began their family in 1944. Norman was a very active person, and served as a councilor in the R.M of Enfield for over 25 years. He and Esther enjoyed many community sporting events together, as well as remaining active in community dances. After many years of farming, they moved to Moose Jaw in 1974 where Norman worked for Sagal Brothers while continuing to help farm, spring and fall with his son Ed in High River, AB. He officially retired at the age of 79, but still enjoyed helping with the farm in High River. After his heart surgery in 1996, he enjoyed fishing and spending time with family and caring for his wife Esther faithfully until her passing in 2002. He moved into the Mulberry Estates for a brief time before moving permanently to Providence Place in 2006. A Funeral Service will be held for Norman at Parkview Funeral Chapel, 474 Hochelaga St. W. Moose Jaw, on Saturday, November 3, 2002 at 2:30 p.m. A family interment will take place at Rosedale Cemetery on Monday, November 5, 2012 at 10:30 a.m.
