William "Bill" Martin
MARTIN, WILLIAM "BILL" ALBAN - Bill was born in Birmingham, England, on June 17, 1925 and died in Fredericton, New Brunswick, on November 1, 2012. A man with a poet's heart, he was an artist, architect, British naval pilot, lover of music, and immensely attached to the natural world. Anchored by his love of family, he was a devoted husband and father: gentle, generous, courteous, irreverent and funny. He returned his body to the planet with gratitude for a good life, having done what he could to help make the world a better place. He now lives in those who knew him best: his wife Sheila (Graham) Martin; daughters Gwen (Wendy) Martin with partner Victor Hendricken, and Jenny (Martin) Hughes with husband Robert; sister Eileen (Martin) Ingram and family; sister-in-law Wendy (Janet) Innis; brother-in-law Peter Graham; grandchildren Anne Hughes with husband Paul Clifford, Lucy (Hughes) Franey with husband Mark, and Daven Hughes; great-grandson Gavin William Wheeler Clifford (our new Billy-boy); 'adopted' relations Wendy-Ellen Dudley and Vidas Stukas; his former work colleagues; his Point Pelee family of friends; and many others, to whom he gave so much. The family wishes to express its everlasting gratitude to Dr. Debra Gowan of the Chalmers Hospital Palliative Care Unit and the nurses of the Extramural Nursing Program for their unmatched kindness and competence.
There will be no memorial service, but for those who wish, remembrances may be made to the New Brunswick SPCA in Fredericton.
