It is with great sadness that the family of the late Alfreda House of Port Saunders, NL, announce her passing on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012 at Rufus Guinchard Health Centre in Port Saunders at the age of 99 years. Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories, daughters Edith (Bill) Ledrew, Massey Drive, Annie (Leo) Kennedy, White Rock, British Columbia, Helen Ashcraft, Montana, Irene Walker, British Columbia, Linda (Dennis) Hewlan, Portland Creek, and Marie (Robin) Smith, Port Saunders; son Albert (Korina), Port Saunders; daughter-in-law Jean; 22 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren; and a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Henry, son Jack, grandson Paul, parents Charles and Anastasia Pike, son-in-law Trevor, five brothers and one sister. The family received friends at St. John the Divine Anglican Church in Port Saunders on Thursday from where the funeral service was held on Friday, Nov. 16 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Paulette Bugden officiating. Interment followed at the Interfaith Cemetery, Sandy Cove. As expressions of sympathy, flowers were graciously accepted or donations may be made to Rufus Guinchard Health Centre or St. John the Divine Church Fund.
