Kenneth Burton

Born In: Sydney Mines
Born: June 4th, 1964

Passed on: November 24th, 2012

We, the family of Kenneth Angus Burton, 48 of Halifax N.S., are deeply saddened to announce his sudden death on Nov. 24, 2012 in Fort McMurray, Alta.
Born on June 4, 1964 in Sydney Mines, Ken spent most of his adult life travelling the country to work at his chosen career. He was a highly respected tradesman, a member of the Plumber & Pipefitters Union for the past 19 years, most recently Local 488, Alberta. Many of his friends and co-workers have shared in our loss, expressing to us how much he will be missed for his “substantial” presence on the job site. He had a passion for learning new things, in his career and also in other aspects of his life. He loved to share his opinions and took great pleasure in a good “debate”. He was full of stories, usually about Cape Breton and would tell anyone who would listen.
In his younger years, Ken was known as a skilled amateur boxer and remained an avid fan of the sport. He had hoped to one day spend time coaching. His most recent accomplishment was becoming a member, along with his son, Myles, of the Freemasons.
He is survived by his two sons, Myles of Edmonton, Alta. and Aaron of Cambridge, Ont. Also survived by his parents, Angus of Dingwall and Helen (Walker) Burton of Sydney; sister, Charlene (George) of Dingwall; brother, Troy of Sydney; grandmother, Helen Burton of North Sydney and the woman who showed him unconditional love, his best friend, Dana Trimper of Halifax.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Glenn (1993), Lawrence (2009), maternal grandparents, Allan & Christine Walker, paternal grandfather, Kenneth Burton and several aunts and uncles.
Ken was a caring person and continued to give, even in death; with the gift of organ donation.
Cremation has taken place in Edmonton. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date, at which time he will be laid to rest with his brothers; along the shores of Cape Breton, where his heart always remained.
He will be missed by many, always remembered, never forgotten.
All who knew Ken also knew how he loved to have the last word, so we will end with one of Ken’s many quotes.… “No one ever said it would be easy”….
