Mildred Sampson
Born In: Lower L'Ardoise
Passed on: November 30th, 2012
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the peaceful passing of Mildred (Murphy) Sampson on Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston.
Born in Lower L’Ardoise, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Sadie Anne (MacLean) Murphy.
Millie was a full time mother and housewife, whose home was her castle. Her family was her number one priority and while raising her 10 children, she was sure to have the clothes washed and hanging out really early in the morning and then proceed to have fresh baking on hand. She marvelled at the gift of a “Recipe Book” which she would review from cover to cover.
Millie has an incredible memory, especially for birthdays and anniversaries of all her grandchildren and many friends.
She was especially proud of her Irish roots and her association with the L’Ardoise Ladies Social Club. True to her deeply rooted faith, Millie had a lifelong devotion to prayer, especially the Rosary, which was recited at least once daily.
Known for her kindness and thoughtfulness, Millie was a woman of great strength. Throughout her many health issues of the past five years, mom “fought the good fight”
Millie is survived by her loving husband and soulmate of 66 years, Charlie; sons, Stephen (Richmond County Warden), Lower L’Ardoise; Terry, Aulds Cove; Melvin ‘Joe’, Fort McMurray; Dean, Calgary; Timmy, Edmonton; Darrell, Blake, both of Hatchet Lake, Arnie, Lower L’Ardoise; one daughter Lisa MacEachern, Lower Sackville; sister, Lorraine (Evariste) Theriault, Ottawa; 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, Millie was predeceased by a twin sister at birth; brother, Arnold; adopted brother, Ivan Boudreau and eldest son, Bernie (Edna Bradbury).
Thanks are extended to the Richmond County Nursing and Home Support Services, Dr. W.B. Kingston Memorial Clinic staff and physicians, Strait Richmond Hospital staff, EHS, L’Ardoise Volunteer Fire Department First Responders and friends and neighbours for all their caring support.
Resting in Holy Guardian Angels Funeral Parlor, L’Ardoise, Sunday and Monday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012 at 10 a.m. from Holy Guardian Angels Church, L’Ardoise with Rev. Lourdusamy Mariadoss presiding. Burial to follow in the parish cemetery.
