88 of Dartmouth, N.S., and Orwell Cove, P.E.I., passed away peacefully on Nov. 27, 2012 at Dartmouth General Hospital 4 west with his family at his side.
Born in Borden, P.E.I., in 1924, he was the son of Kathleen and Frank Dalziel. He is survived by his sister Betty MacBrearty of Elliott Lake, Ontario, and predeceased by his brother Frank of Victoria, B.C.
Jack is survived by his loving wife Celie (Rooney) of 64 years and by his 5 children Kathy (Bev), Frank (Joan), John (Cathy), Hugh (Shirley), and Nelda (Gerald); 12 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. Jack was a family man who loved his family dearly.
Jack was a World War II veteran who served proudly on a Navy mine sweeper from 1943-1945. He was a science graduate and avid sportsman who played rugby and hockey for St. Dunstan's University graduating in 1949 as the president of his graduating class. He worked for 35 years in the Federal Government Dept. of Fisheries and Dept. of the Environment.
Upon his retirement in 1982 Jack built his summer home in Orwell Cove, P.E.I. "The house that Jack built" housed many family events and memories. The door was always open to family and friends in "The Cove" with over 500 meals served by the July long weekend each summer. Jack was active with Kiwanis and his church over the years. He was a man of unconditional love and unwavering faith. He will be greatly missed.

A beautiful mass celebrating Jacks strong faith was held at St. Thomas More Parrish, Main Street, Dartmouth, on Saturday, Dec. 1, at 10 a.m. A reception followed in the church hall.
