
Muriel Ellis
The death of Muriel Flavia Ellis age 89 of Amherst occurred peacefully on Tuesday evening, December 4th, 2012 at Gables Lodge in Amherst.
Born on July 10th, 1923 in Midgic, NB, Muriel was a daughter of the late Venning and Annie (Estabrooks) Wheaton.
She was a graduate from Mount Allison University with a Stenographic degree, working for the Amherst Credit Bureau for many years and worked for the Conservative Party, primarily during election times.
Muriel was a member of Border Belles for many years, as well as a member of the First Baptist Church, Amherst. In her younger years, Muriel was a member of the Amherst Garden Club and continued her love of gardening for many years after. The greatest joy in Muriel’s life came from her family and friends.
Muriel will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Bob (Theresa) Ellis, Amherst, Terry (Denise) Ellis, Hamilton; daughter, Betty (Leonard) Tower, Amherst; brother, Bob Wheaton and sister, Frances Hicks both of Sackville, NB; grandchildren, Gillian, Daniel, Stephen, Beth, Eryn and Mitchell; great grandchildren, Mason, Hannah, Ethan, Madeline, Austyn and Owyn; several nieces, nephews and extended family
In addition to her parents, Muriel was predeceased by her husband, H. Norman Ellis in 2010; sister, Betty Elliott; and brother, David Wheaton in infancy.
A time of visitation for family and friends will be held on Thursday, December 6, 2012 from 7-9 p.m. followed by funeral service on Friday at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Byron Corkum officiating all in Campbell’s Funeral Home, 98 Church St., Amherst (667-9906).
