DOUCETTE, John Daley – 84, Wedgeport, Yarmouth Co., formerly of Quincy, Massachusetts, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 5, 2012 at home. Born April 2, 1928 in Boston, he was a son of the late Clifford and Beatrice (Melanson) Doucette. Following Beatrice’s untimely death, Clifford married Lucy Doucette who raised John and his siblings. John served with the United States Armed Forces, having also worked as a food inspector as well as a machinist after having taken over his father’s sheet metal/machine shop. He was a member of the American Legion, Cyril P. Morrisette Post 294, as well as a member of the Sons of Italy, both in Quincy. John also loved hunting. He is survived by his wife, Therese (Boudreau) Doucette, as well as by his step-mother, Lucy Doucette, Wedgeport. He was predeceased by his first wife, Geraldine “Gerry” Doucette, as well as by his sister, Christina Clary, and brothers, Gerald, Willie, Lawrence and Paul Doucette. Visitation took place from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, with prayers at 8:00 p.m., both at H. M. Huskilson’s Funeral Home, Wedgeport. The funeral mass was held Monday, December 10 at 11:00 a.m. from Saint Michael’s Catholic Church, Wedgeport, Father Albeni d’Entremont officiated. Interment will take place in Quincy, Mass.
