The death occurred suddenly at his home in Souris on Saturday, December 8, 2012, of Peter John Whitty, in his 91st year.
Loving father of Jeannie (Mike) Hammitt and Maureen Karahan. Grandfather of Mark and Andrew Hammitt. Great-grandfather of Kirkland, Spencer, Brianna and Braden. Special friend of Mary O’Hanley and special grampy to Kelli, Jamie, Joel, Jenna, Jake and Jedd. Also will be missed by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Predeceased by his parents, Johnny and Sara Whitty; sisters, Florance, Mary, Christina, Adeline, Mainie; and brother, Agustus.
Resting at the Dingwell Funeral Home in Souris for visiting hours on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral to be held on Thursday morning, December 13, 2012, to St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church for funeral mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. Interment in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Legion Memorial Fund.
Members of the Royal Canadian Legion are asked to meet at the funeral home at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday, December 12, 2012, for Legion service.
