David Leroy Turner

Passed away peacefully at the age of 68 on Saturday morning, May 3, 2008, at 11:30 at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. He was born on December 5, 1939, in Melrose, Massachusetts, and first arrived in Canada in pursuit of his Masters degree at the University of Toronto. A career-long hospital administrator, most recently of the Regional Hospital in Amherst, Nova Scotia, David was subsequently a full-time resident of P.E.I., having retired to the fourth generation Turner family cottage in Cavendish to reconnect with his family roots. David was an only child and is predeceased by his father, Leroy Turner, and his mother, Elizabeth Turner. He is survived by his children, Byron and Laurel Turner, and his long-time partner, Bev Goy. He was a student at the Seniors College of the University of P.E.I. where he participated in creative writing classes. He also thoroughly enjoyed playing trivia games on the Island with his friends and teammates. David is currently resting at the MacLean Funeral Home in Charlottetown where he will be cremated and later laid to rest with his grandparents at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett Massachusetts. A family memorial will follow at a later time. There will be no formal service in Charlottetown per David’s wishes. Condolences can be made online at www.macleanfh.com.
