
Robert Beatty "Bob" McCully
McCully, Robert Beatty “Bob” – 94, East Mines, Colchester Country, passed away Tuesday, December 11, 2012 in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro, surrounded with his loving family. Born in Masstown, he was a son of the late Robert W. and Martha (Johnson) (McCully) Fields. Beatty worked in his earlier years as a truck driver and snow plow operator, and also drove tow truck for many years. He was a well-known Heavy Duty Mechanic having worked on big buses and trucks. He later retired in 1980 from Scott Truck in Debert. He was a third generation owner of his farmhouse and enjoyed walking and cutting wood on his own land. He had a great love for his daughter’s dog Chloe. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Grace Amelia (Scott) McCully; daughters Janice Mary Christie (Jim) of Mississauga, ON, Sharon Diane Croft (Gary) of Lower Onslow; twin grandsons Donald Scott and James Robert Christie both of Mississauga, ON; “Acting Grampie” to Danielle and Nicholas Morrow of Lower Onslow; many dear nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Beatty was predeceased by son Robert Scott in infancy; brother in infancy; sister Elizabeth Fields.
Visitation will take place from 1pm. until funeral service time at 3 pm on Sunday, December 16th all in the Mattatall~Varner Funeral Home, 55 Young Street, Truro. Rev. Cory Somers will officiate with a reception to follow in the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date in Folly Village Cemetery, Glenholme. Donations in Beatty’s memory may be made to the Colchester S.P.C.A. or to the Victorian Order of Nurses, Home Care Truro.
