Audrey McQueen

McQUEEN, AUDREY MARIE - In the grace of God;in her eightieth year on December 13, 2012, Audrey Marie McQueen (Gorham) slipped from this life surrounded by her four children, to enter new life in Christ. Predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Sherwood James (Bud) McQueen. Audrey was born in Saint John, New Brunswick, October 8, 1932. She spent her formative years on the Saint John River at Harding’s Point, in a little home at the bottom of “Pancake Hill”; with parents Arthur and Jenny Gorham (Allen), four sisters and three brothers. In her latter teen years she moved to Saint John and worked at various places including the New Brunswick Protestant Orphan's Home and National Packing Company. She also lived in Nova Scotia and British Columbia after marriage. Known for her love of art, Audrey spent much time creating her own masterpieces, painting landscapes and portraits. And was also commissioned to do paintings for others. She easily made friends and held them as the “treasures” in her life – so many times she referred to herself as being “so rich” because of these great relationships. She enjoyed writing in her journals, doing crypto quotes, loved her house plants and nature. She was a devoted member of the Brunswick Street Baptist Church. In sorrow she leaves behind four children: Allen (Sue) of Calgary, AB; Paul (Jane) of Napanee, ON; Wendy (Ken) of St. George, NB; and Robin (Anna) of Traceyville, NB; four sisters: Dorothy Felhaber, Leamington, ON; Winnifred Leggett (Edward), Saint John, NB; Roberta MacKenzie (Keith), Gagetown, NB; Willa Mavis (Ross), Saint John, NB; two brothers: Frank Gorham(Faye), Hardings Point, NB; Allen Gorham (Janet), Hardings Point, NB; brother-in-law William McQueen (Diana) Saint John, NB; eight grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother Arthur Gorham and by sister-in-law Maureen Curwen.
Visitation will be held at McAdam's Funeral Home on Sunday, December 16, 2012 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.
