SMITH, NELSON JOHN - 1925-2012 - Nelson John Smith passed away peacefully at The Jordan Life Care Center on December 14, 2012, at the age of 87. Born in Miminegash, PEI on December 7, 1925, he was the son of the late John and Lila Mae Smith. Nelson is survived by his loving wife Kathleen; sons, Dennis (Kathy) Douthwright, Reginald (Fran), Barry (Teresa); stepdaughter Jayne and stepsons, Gary, Richard and Dennis; grandchildren, Adam and Jared, Patricia and Alice; great-grandchildren, Neomie, Isaac and Kennedy; as well as by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Nelson was predeceased by his first wife, Pauline Smith and his daughter, Susan Scott. Nelson enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, wildlife and spending time with his family and friends. Nelson was a dedicated employee of Fair Haven Memorial Gardens for 27 years.
Visitation will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Monday, December 17, from 7 to 9 pm. A Service to celebrate his life will be held on Tuesday, December 18 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at the Jordan Life Care Center for their care and support. A reception will follow the service in the Garden View Reception Room. Interment will be in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
