CALLOWAY, EVELYN - It is with great sadness the family announce the passing of their loved one Evelyn Esther Calloway, who passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2012 at her residence on 52 Coster Street. Born on February 4, 1923 in Birmingham, England. She was the daughter of the late William and Clara (Esser) Jewis. At a young age Evelyn immigrated to Saint John. Evelyn enjoyed knitting and baking, especially for her family’s Tuesday night Bingo at her residence. She enjoyed quality time at the family summer place in Digdeguash, N.B. She is survived by her Sons, Frederick (Mona), of Saint John, Peter (Patricia), of Saint John, Mark (Tammy), of Saint John; daughters, Barbara Haslam (Frederick), of Saint John, Nancy Hickey, of Saint John, Donna Chapman (Carmen), of Ormocto, Carolyn Fairweather (John), of Saint John, Deborah Daeres (Paul), of Saint John, Janet Calloway, of Saint John, Patricia Calloway and her partner, Herbert Keyes, of Saint John; sisters, Yvonne Price of Birmingham, England; eleven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, George Frederick; brothers, Alfred Paley, Dennis Jewis; sisters, Barbara Jewis, Norah Powell, Hazel Bagatta, Jean Kammerer.
Resting at Castle Funeral Home, “Fallsview Chapel”, 309 Lancaster Avenue, Saint John West, (634-1701). Visitation will take place on Wednesday, December 19, 2012 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral service will take place on Thursday, December 20, 2012 at 11 a.m. from Castle Funeral Home. Interment will take place in the Cedar Hill Extension Cemetery. Following interment there will be a reception held at the Fallsview Family Reception Center. Donations may be made in Evelyn’s memory to the charity of the donor’s choice. The family would like to give a special thanks to Margie Ellis and to the Nurses of Extra Mural.
