HOPEWELL, Pictou County – Kathleen “Kaye” Theresa Horne, age 85 of Hopewell, passed away on Tuesday, December 18th, 2012 in the Palliative Care Unit of the Aberdeen Hospital.
Born in New Glasgow, she was a daughter of the late Welsford and Mary (Grant) West.
Kaye was educated in Hopewell, Stellarton, Antigonish and Halifax. She graduated from St. Mary’s University with her Bachelor of Commerce. She worked for the Federal Government in Halifax for 32 years, her last position was in the Manpower Dept. Kaye was a member of the Crystal Fountain Rebekah Lodge #11. Travelling was something that Kaye enjoyed, especially to Florida. Kaye loved her dogs, playing bingo along with her trips to the Casino.
She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Surviving are her husband Donald Horne; sister-in-law Joyce West, Hopewell; also a number of nieces and nephews in Australia, U.S.A. and Canada.
Kaye was predeceased by sisters: Doris, Joan, Marie, Mabel and a sister in infancy; brothers: John, William (Bill), Frank and Richard (Dick).
There will be no visitation or service by request. Burial will take place in the Hopewell Cemetery at a later date.
Donations in memory of Kaye may be made to the Palliative Care Society of the Aberdeen Hospital, the Canadian Cancer Society or to the Ladies Guild of First Presbyterian Church, Hopewell.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel.
