ESTEY, ERNEST - The death of Mr. Ernest Gregory Estey, husband of June (Tozer) Estey of Northwest Road, Sunny Corner, NB, occurred on Tuesday, December 18, 2012 at his residence at the age of 81. Born in Sevogle, NB, he was the son of the late Joseph R. and Ella (McLean) Estey. Ernest graduated in 1949 from St. Thomas High School in Chatham. He was a member of St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, retired from Repap Pulp and Paper after 40 years as a millwright. He served as a member of St. Thomas Parish Council for several years and enjoyed woodworking, fishing and being in the woods. Besides his wife: June, Ernest is survived by: one daughter: Marilyn of Cassilis, NB; four sons: Paul of Edmonton, AB; George (Sally) of Exmoor, NB; Hector (Lynn Pelletier) of Whitney, NB; John (Martine) of Fredericton, NB; one sister: Helena McCoombs of Miramichi, NB; grandchildren: Maggie, Robin, Elliot, Dylan, Ella and Lia; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Ernest is predeceased by: son: Stephen Ernest; brothers: Joseph, Charlie, Harry, Louis, Clayton, Eugene; infant brother: Hector; sisters: Lillian Hubbard, Cecilia Kenny, Doris Harris, Theresa Foran and infant sister: Agnes Mary.
The family will receive visitors at Meadows Funeral Home on Thursday from 7 to 9 PM and Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Thomas the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank on Saturday, December 22, 2012 at 11 AM with Father Dan Melanson officiating. Burial will take place in the St. James Roman Catholic Church Cemetery, Sevogle, NB, later in the spring. In Ernest’s memory, donations may be made to the St. James Roman Catholic Cemetery Fund or the Miramichi SPCA.
