It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Annette Bonnell-Marshall on Dec. 18, 2012, at the Cove Guest Home, Sydney.
Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Peter and Margaret (Renaud) Dubois.
Annette was employed by the University College of Cape Breton as co-director of the Electronic Learning Centre. After her retirement in 1988, she kept close ties to the college and was a member of the University Faculty Alumni. She was well known and loved by faculty and students alike.
Annette was a very loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her caring nature and capacity to reach out to others made her a much-adored member of her community.
Annette is survived by her longtime loving companion, Ross Marshall; daughters, Linda Ouellet, Barrie, Gail Bonnell, Sydney; sons, Larry (Sheila) Bonnell, Oshawa, Wally and Michael (Diane) Bonnell, Scarborough, Tim (Michelle) Bonnell, Sydney; and two stepsons, Paul (Tina) and Eric Marshall, Toronto; 10 grandchildren, Rene and Nicole, Annette, Lawrence and Creig, Christine and Carrie Ann, Tim, Nicholas and Travis; numerous great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one brother, Maurice (Marg) Dubois, London; and one sister, Margaret (Joe) Egardo, California.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, Francis Bonnell, son, Raymond, and daughter, Franklyn Edwards and three brothers, Peter, Louis and Edward Dubois, sister, Tenia Phillippo.
Visitation will be held Friday, Dec. 21, 2012, at the S.W. Chant & Son Funeral Home, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
Donations may be made to the Diabetes Society in lieu of flowers.
