Velma MacPherson

New Glasgow - Velma Amelia MacPherson, 66, of Munroe Avenue, New Glasgow passed away Dec. 23, 2012 in the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Unit.
Born in Guysborough she was a daughter of the late Victor and Mary (Avery) DeCoste.
Velma was a resident of New Glasgow for most of her life where she had worked at the Aberdeen Hospital for over 30 years spending most of her time in the ICU.
She was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church.
She is survived by her sons George (Cindy) Elgin; Wade (Cathy), New Glasgow; her grandchildren Chad, Brittney, Tyler and Cristin, her long time companion Phillip MacKenzie, New Glasgow; brothers, Joe (Judy), Alma; Parker (Pat), Little Harbour Road; Lloyd (Trudy), Trafalgar; Clarence (Faye), Westville; special aunts Mildred Sanford and Nancy Inferrera.
She was predeceased by her husband Wayne and a sister in infancy.
Cremation to take place. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the H.W. Angus Funeral Home, New Glasgow. A memorial mass will be held 11 a.m. Thursday from Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church with Father Donald Boudreau presiding.
Burial of ashes will take place in the parish cemetery.
Family flowers only. Memorial donations in memory of Velma may be made to the Aberdeen Hospital Palliative Care Society.
