It is with heavy hearts that we, the family, announce the sudden passing of our precious wife, mother, sister and friend, Charlene Anne, on Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at the QE II in Halifax.
Born in Glace Bay, Charlene was the daughter of the late Charles ‘Hank’ and Margaret (Matheson) Ransome.
Charlene was a loving wife, mother and a very committed employee and volunteer over many years. She worked at numerous grocery stores, canvassed for the Canadian Cancer Society, has been an AVON representative for many people for the past 26 years, and spent the last 17 years working as a dedicated and well-respected personal care worker with the New Waterford Homemakers Society.
She is survived by her husband, Gerard and her daughter, Ann Margaret (Scott) Clements who were her pride and joy. Also survived by brothers, Stewart (Gisela) and Weldon (Theresa), nieces, nephews and her special canine companion Dakota.
She was predeceased by her sister Katherine as well as a brother and sister in infancy.
Visitation was held Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Patten Funeral Home, Union Street, Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held today (Monday) at 2 p.m. at Warden United Church, with Rev. Clayton Austin officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of choice.
