Bruce Miles

It is with heartfelt sadness that we, the family of Bruce Miles regret to announce his passing on Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born Aug. 14, 1927, he was the son of the late Valentine and Lillian (Twiner) Miles.
He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Victor, Jim, Richard, Enos and sisters, Louise and Alice. Bruce was also predeceased by his loving wife of 57 years Hattie (Crowdis) Miles.
Bruce is survived by his loving daughters, Charmaine Howie (with whom he resided) and Eunice (Alastair) Dixon. Also surviving are sons, Bruce, Richard (Fred) and Darrell (Debbie). He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Tyler, Theresa, Sheldon, Christopher, Troy, Jessica, Leslie, Daniel, Samantha and Shannon; his four great-grandchildren Luca, Jackson, Anna and Macy.
Bruce worked in the coal mines of Glace Bay for 44 years and was a devoted family man. He was a die hard Blue Jays and Leafs fan. For many years he was a member of the Glace Bay Colliery Bowling League. He was an avid golfer and a longtime member of Lingan Golf Club.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 3, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Curry’s Funeral Home, 775 Main St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, Jan. 4, at 11 a.m. in Holy Cross Church. The Rev Norman MacPhee will be officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery.
Donations may be made to the Cancer Centre at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital or MS Society.
