CURRIE, BERNICE GLADYS - It is with great sadness that the family of Bernice Currie announce her death at the Oromocto Public Hospital on Wednesday, January 2, 2013 at the age of 89. Born in Strood, England, on August 19th, 1923, she was the wife of the late Alfred Bruce Currie. Bernice leaves behind her children, Bruce (Peggy) Currie and Shirley (Patrick) Slaney; her pride and joy, grandsons Patrick (Alice) and Michael (Anne); as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Alfred, Bernice was predeceased by her infant son, Robert Bruce; parents, Frank and Beatrice Trice; and sister, Winnifred Coveney. Bernice was a war bride and a WWII veteran, having served with the Royal Air Force. She was a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 93 in addition to being Assistant Padre and Honorary President.
There will be no visitation at her request. A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, January 5th, 2013 from St. John's Anglican Church, Oromocto, with Canon Walter Williams officiating. The Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 93 will hold a tribute service. Interment will take place in the spring.
