It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of our father, grandfather, and brother Leonard Joseph Doucette, age 86, a resident of Beacon Crescent, on Wednesday, January 3, 2013.
Born in North Sydney, Leonard was the son of the late William and Catherine (MacDonald) Doucette. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in North Sydney. As a young man he joined the Merchant Marines and later worked at CN Marine until his retirement.
He is survived by his children, Diane (James) MacFarlane, Upper Tantallon, NS, Victor (Marilyn), Millville NS, Paul (Debbie), Mahone Bay, Leslie (Joe) Cogan, North Sydney; his grandchildren Craig, Elizabeth, Jacqueline and Kelsey; one sister Sheila (Hurcel) Gillard, Sydney Mines.
Leonard was predeceased by his wife Catherine ‘Betty’ Moore; his sisters Mabel and Connie and his brothers George (in infancy), Reg, Gerald, Gregory and George Murry.
There will be no visitation or service as per Leonard’s request. His remains have been donated to Dalhousie Medical Research with interment at a later date.
