Kathleen Harrington
HARRINGTON, KATHLEEN F.V. “KAY” - Kathleen Harrington, 90, formerly of Lorentz Drive in Moncton, passed away on Sunday January 6, 2013 at ProTem Health Services in Moncton. Born on October 31, 1922 in Plumweseep, NB, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret (Purtill) Ryan. She is survived by three daughters: Margaret MacLachlan (Ian) of Bedford, NS, Kathy Estey (Norman) of Chilliwack, BC, and Patricia Spicer (Peter) of Spencer’s Island, NS; one son, John (Elle) of Coto de Caza, CA; two sisters: Rita Proctor of Sussex and Lois McHugh of Saint John; two brothers: James (Eileen) of Sussex and George (Rose) of Saint John; 10 grandchildren: Robert, Michael and David MacLachlan, Andrea Brinker and Patrick Estey, Katie and Meggie Spicer, Allie, Ryan and Matthew Harrington; one great-granddaughter, Harper Brinker; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her loving husband of 56 years, Ernest; one sister, Irma Gillespie and two brothers: Walter and Thomas. Kay graduated from Sussex High School and Modern Business College in Saint John. She was employed by the Bank of Montreal in Saint John and later at St. Patrick’s Family Centre in Moncton, and by the Moncton City Hospital. Kay was a member of the Catholic Women’s League, volunteered at St. Augustine and Holy Family Churches, and Meals on Wheels. Kay was very devoted to family. She enjoyed travel, friends, reading, needlepoint, bridge, cake decorating and knitting. The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral Centre, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900) on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 10 a.m. until time of departure (10:45). The funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine’s R.C. Church, 340 Dominion Street, Moncton, on Wednesday January 9, 2013 at 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery in Sussex.
