Reta Eileen Pick - 80, of Evergreen Home for Special Care, Kentville, formerly of Port Williams, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Sunday, January 6, 2013 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born in Port Williams, she was a daughter of the late Charles “Avery” and Hilda (Bezanson) Bezanson. She had been employed with Canada Packers, A.C.A., and CFB Cornwallis. She later worked at housekeeping and tended shop at Country Barn Antiques, Port Williams. In her younger years, she played hockey for “The Ports”. Reta had a love for people and was a fun-loving, good Christian woman, with a strong faith and a kind heart. Reta had been a member of the Kentville United Baptist Church, where she was involved with the Ethel Fenerty Missionary Society and sang in the choir. She enjoyed knitting and was well-known for her afghans. She was also a member of the New Horizons Seniors Club, served as secretary for the Kings Progressive Conservative Party and also canvassed for the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia. She is survived by two daughters, Ann-Marie (Kevin) Young, Kentville; Delores (David) Pick, Truro; a son, Gregory (Beverley), New Minas; two sisters, Vivian (Gil) Schofield, Florida; Betty (Gerald, deceased) Weir, New Minas; three brothers, Ken Bezanson, Port Williams; Carl (Juanita) Bezanson, Port Williams; Charles (Marilyn) Bezanson, Lockhartville; five grandchildren, a step-grandchild, three great grandchildren and two step great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. Visitation was held from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday, January 10, 2013 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville. The funeral service, followed by a reception, was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 11, 2013 in the Port Williams United Baptist Church, Reverend David Ogilvie officiating. Burial will take place at a later date. Donations in memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
