FORTUNE, WINNIFRED “WINNIE” G. (O’DONNELL) - With heavy hearts, the family of Winnie Fortune announces her passing, on January 10th, 2013, at the Saint John Regional Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. Dear wife, of nearly 40 years, to Stan Fortune, she was born in St. Johns, NF., to the late Norman and Marion (Hay) Winsor. Winnie was a life member of the UCW of Silver Falls United Church and an avid traveler, blessed to have been to Cuba, Hawaii, Florida, Arizona and California to name a few. A very gracious and caring woman who loved to be involved in charity fundraising. Winnie had a passion for swimming and anything that involved healthy living. Spending time with family was a priority and her grandchildren were her pride and joy. Winnie will be dearly missed. In addition to her husband Stan, she is survived by her sons Paul (Lorna Cress) O’Donnell , Saint John, NB., Roger (Margie) O’Donnell, Dartmouth, NS., daughter Dawn (Art) Richard, Saint John, NB., brothers Bert (Barb) Winsor Outer Cove, NF., and Rev. Dr. David (Margo) Winsor, Toronto, ON., sisters Joyce Wayling, Brampton, On., Maxine Tobin, Fairfield, CA., grandchildren Tanya (Chris) Moran, Stan Richard, Megan and Michael O’Donnell, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
At Winnie’s request, there will be no visitation. The funeral service will be held Monday, January 14, 2013 at 11 am at the Fundy Chapel followed immediately by a reception. Private family committal will be held after the reception in Ocean View Memorial Gardens. For those who wish, and in lieu of flowers, remembrances to the Canadian Cancer Society, Alzheimer’s Society, or the SJRH Foundation would be appreciated by the family.
