Carol Georgina (Dickie) Aker - 69, of Kentville, passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 in the Valley Regional Hospital, Kentville. Born on June 18, 1943 in Berwick, she was a daughter of the late George and Ruby (Adams) Dickie of Canady Creek. She had been employed in the office of M. W. Graves and later Cobi Foods in Berwick until her “retirement” to give herself time with her husband and family and extend her affectionate and moderating touch. She enjoyed meeting new people, was a friend to everyone and will be much loved and sadly missed by all who knew her. “Nan and Gramps” managed a gift shop in Gold River for 13 years. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Leslie Aker; two daughters, Carol (David) Herman, Kentville and their two children, Rubybeth and Jeremiah; Lauri (Warren) Jones and their 13 children, Lauri, Nathaniel, Emilie, Evelyn, Samuel, Warren, Shirley, Lemuel, Daniel, Sally, William, Michael and Virginia; one great grandchild, Harrison, son of Nathaniel (Courtney); a brother, George (Ida) Dickie, Black Rock. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Merle Wheeler. Visitation was held from 7-9 p.m., Wednesday, January 16, 2013 in the White Family Funeral Home, Kentville, where the funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, January 17, 2013, Reverend Warren Jones officiating. A private family burial took place in the East Black Rock Cemetery. Family flowers only, by request. Donations in memory may be made to Charity Baptist Church / School, Torbrook.
