Margaret Elizabeth Todrick

Born In: Edmonton, Alberta, Canada
Born: July 17th, 1932

Passed on: December 1st, 2012

Margaret Elizabeth Todrick, Beth to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on December 1, 2012 with family by her side. Beth is
predeceased by husband John and daughters Kelli (Poitras) and
Barbara (Rathbone). She is survived by her son, John, and five grandchildren; Amanda (Poitras), Chuck & Kim (Rathbone),
Natasha & Vanessa (Todrick).

Beth was born July 17, 1932 in Edmonton, AB to Wes and Elenor Castor. Throughout her life Beth was a high energy person who loved life and the outdoors. She found her soul mate and partner for life when she married John Todrick of Edmonton. The two of them lived in Fort St. John where they built a house on Charlie Lake in 1979. Among the activities they enjoyed were gardening, fishing, canoeing and entertaining friends. Beth and John sold real estate in the Fort St. John area for over 20 years and co-owned a successful realty business.

While raising a family, running a business and enjoying her life, Beth was also deeply involved in the local community. She served several terms on both the school board and as an Alderman for city council. In 1969 she was presented with an award for her work as executive secretary to the Fort St. John city council. In 1973 she was named Chairman of the School Board and became the first woman ever to hold the position. While she held a position with the school board she frequently encouraged young women to further their education and continued to do so after she retired her position.

Fort St. John and Charlie Lake always held a special place in her heart along with all the beloved friends she met there. In 1995 she moved to Vancouver, met many more good friends and lived there until her passing. During her time in the city, Beth became
something of a renaissance woman and kept a schedule that would be impressive for someone half her age.

We all have our own memories of Beth that we will take away. For many of us there will be some common elements; a delicious home cooked meal, perhaps endless hands of crib, certainly a healthy
helping of wine, always intelligent and incisive conversation.
Margaret Todrick, Beth, was truly a unique individual and will be sadly missed by all who knew her. All those who strive, all those who have a passion for life, honour her memory.
