
Mary Chisholm
Mary Caroline Chisholm, 90 of Hopewell, passed away January 18, 2013 in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow.
Born in Stillwater, Guysborough County on April 15, 1922, she was a daughter of the late Will and Lena (MacBain) MacDonald.
Mary was the last member of a family of ten.
On July 10, 1945 she married the love of her life, Lester W. Chisholm. Lester and Mary moved to Hopewell in 1959, where Mary resided ever since.
She was a member of the Silver Light Rebekah Lodge No. 79 for over 30 years as well as the Guild of the First Presbyterian Church in Hopewell.
She is survived by her children Connie (Ernie), Trenton; Kathy (Tom), Oliver, BC.; Terry (Brenda), Stellarton; Bev (Larry), Lyon’s Brook; Marlene (Zoe), Hopewell; nine grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law May, Shirley and Agnes MacDonald; son-in-law Lee Hoare.
She was predeceased by her husband Lester Walter Grove Chisholm; brothers: Alex, John, Bill, Chal, Vic, Lowell and Walter; sisters, Anna Freund and Emma MacKeen.
Cremation to take place. The family will receive visitors from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Sunday at the H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Chapel, Stellarton. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Monday from the First Presbyterian Church, Hopewell with Rev. Bonnie Crockett presiding. Burial of ashes will take place in the Hopewell Cemetery, Foxbrook Road, Hopewell.
Family flowers only. Donations in memory of Mary may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Hopewell or to the Palliative Care Society of the Aberdeen Hospital.
