Brian McKay

McKAY, BRIAN N. “HUMP” - It is with great sadness that the family of Brian Neill “Hump” McKay of Fredericton announce his sudden passing on Tuesday, January 22, 2013. Born in Fredericton on April 8, 1939, he was a son of the late Neill and Helen (Simmons) McKay. His working career would include the Chestnut Canoe Factory, NB Power and eventually Brian would travel to Ontario to work at the GM Automobile Plant from where he would retire. An avid outdoorsman, Brian enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved to collect antiques which included cars and trucks. He leaves behind a daughter Janet Barker (Jude) of Fredericton and a son Kevin Judd (Maureen) of Geary; six grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren; three brothers, Lawrence (Moira) McKay of Whitehorse, YK, David (Sharon) McKay of Fredericton and Trevor (Pat) McKay of Fredericton; a sister Margaret Toner (Burton) of Harvey; a close friend, Marvin “Buzzy” Kitchen; several nieces, nephews and cousins. His parents, his wife Mary Louise McKay and a sister, Helen McKay predeceased him.
There will be no visitation hours by request. A memorial service will be held from Bishop’s Funeral Home Chapel, 540 Woodstock Road, Fredericton on Friday January 25, 2013 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions to the NB Heart and Stroke Foundation or to a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
