It is with great sadness that we announce the loss of our mother, grandmother great-grandmother, aunt and friend, on Jan. 26, 2013.
Born Jan. 27, 1934, Sydney, N.S., to Bernard and Sadie (Wade) Delaney.
Mom was the last living member of her family of four brothers, Bill, Mike, Diddles and Tanner and three sisters, Peggy, Tiny and Clara, as well as all their spouses. She was also predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Bernie Doucet on Aug. 5, 2009.
Mom will be sadly missed by her six children, daughters, Celeste (Bill) Axeworthy, Patricia (Bernie) Doucette and Denise (Mark) Lawrence; sons, Raymond (Linda), Frank (Debbie) and Robert (Christine). She is also survived by grandchildren, Patrick, David, Ryan, Michael, Jason, Megan, Amanda, Justin and Tylor and her great-grandchildren, Ethan, Hunter and Logan; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, friends and very close friend, Winnie MacIver. Also survived by sisters-in-law, Leomay (Tom) Dewling and Antionette Landry.
In her younger days Mom was an active member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Mira Road Fire Department and the CWL. She worked at Woolco for many years. As well, she was an avid bingo player in her day.
Mom was full of life and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
A special thanks to all the staff at Seaview Manor in Glace Bay and the staff on 4C and 3B at the Cape Breton Regional for being so kind to our mother.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m at Sydney Memorial Chapel. A funeral mass will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Heart Church with Rev. Conrad Edwards officiating. Interment will be held in Resurrection Cemetery.
