Audaery ‘Phylliss’ (Bennett) McMullin, 86, of Sydney Mines, passed away peacefully on Jan. 27, 2013, at the Northside General Hospital.
Born in Sydney Mines, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Margaret (Boyd) Bennett.
She was employed in the laundry unit of St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, (Northside General Hospital) for 18 years, retiring in 1986. She was a member of Immaculate Conception Parish and a resident of the Northside Community Guest Home, MacEachern Place.
Phylliss loved to dance and sing and always had a big, beautiful smile for everyone.
Surviving are her children, Margie (Larry) Clark, Halifax, Jack (Bernice) McMullin, Woodstock, Ont., Patsy Gerrow, Sydney Mines, Bev (Jim) Klimchuck, Winnipeg; grandchildren, Julie (Nick) Clark, Bedford, Curtis (Cheryl) Gerrow, Erin (Robbie) Gerrow and their father Roddie Gerrow, Sydney Mines/Long Island, Jenna Klimchuck, Winnipeg; great-grandsons, Christopher and Liam, Bedford; sister, Joan (Leonard) Guy, North Sydney; brothers, Russell (Helen) Bennett, Sydney, Alex (Mabel) Bennett, Sydney Mines; special family, Evelyn, Andrew, Brehanna and Andrea MacKinnon and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband John Michael McMullin in 2006, sisters, Sadie Gillis, Hulda Blackie, brothers, Wilfred Bennett, Floyd Bennett, Arthur Jr. Bennett, Edgar Bennett and Roddie Bennett.
The family would like to thank the staff of MacEachern Place, Northside Guest Home, nursing staff 4 West, Northside General and Dr. M. McKeough for the care and compassion received.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Nova Scotia or Heart and Stroke Foundation.
In honor of Phylliss’ wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation. Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Immaculate Conception Church on Wednesday, Jan. 30, at 10 a.m. with Fr. Thomas John officiating, reception to follow. Interment in St. Joseph Cemetery, Sydney Mines, at a later date.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the care and direction of Francis Funeral Home.
